How Far Can We Fly? Join Us for the IMechE NI Annual Lecture at NI Science Festival

Join us this February half-term for the IMechE NI Annual Lecture, supported by IMechE, Ulster University and Primary Engineer at the NI Science Festival on Monday 16th February. Hear Carl Robertshaw, 5-time World Sport Kite Champion and multidisciplinary designer, as he inspires us to look up and discover the science, art and nature in the world of kites and how they influence our world.

A World-Class Innovator Carl isn’t just a 5-time World Sport Kite Champion; he is a visionary designer. His career highlights include:

Stage & Screen: Set-piece designs for Stranger Things: The First Shadow (Winner of the Special Tony Award for Illusions).

Global Events: Design collaborations for the London 2012 Olympics and Super Bowl 50.

Scientific Impact: Applying kite aerodynamics to space satellite technology.

Listen to more of his highlights in our engineer interview series.

Inspiring the Next Generation At Primary Engineer, we’ve seen Carl’s expertise firsthand. As our Kite Advisor at Primary Engineer, he has been central in helping us develop our new Kite Works Programme. Thanks to the support of our partners Thales, RAF, Transport Scotland and Industry Supporter ADS, this programme is currently being piloted in schools across Northern Ireland and Scotland.
