In the academic year 2025-26 we are launching our new Kites Works Programme for upper primary school classes and lower secondary school classes. The topic uses the design and building of kites to explore materials, creative problem solving and the science and maths involved in kite design. The topic has strong cross-curricular links and aligning it to careers in the aviation and aerospace sector.
Places are generously funded by the RAF, THALES, Transport Scotland and supported by Education Scotland and ADS.
Teacher Training (CPD / CLPL) is offered to two teachers per school to explore practically how the topic can be taught. A suite of curriculum aligned teaching resources are provided, and also where possible a link to an engineer to help contextualise the learning for your pupils. PLUS enough tools and resources for two classes with sufficient materials for all pupils to make their own kite to take home!
