Lighting up sports: Jersey prototype unveiled

Indoor courts have lots of different lines for different sports and sometimes it can be confusing which lines are for your game. Jasmine, a pupil at Jersey College Preparatory knows this struggle all too well when playing netball which is why she came up with the idea ‘Light Lines’.

‘Light Lines’ use a remote to select the type of game you’re playing, then the LED lights light up the correct lines whilst fading out the irrelevant ones. This could help players, umpires and spectators a like!

Each year Industry and University partners of Primary Engineer choose a pupil’s idea to build into a Prototype and to be revealed a year later at the regional awards ceremony. The team from Highlands College chose this idea to turn into a prototype.

The finished prototype was officially unveiled on 9th June at the Jersey regional award ceremony hosted at the Great Hall.
