{"id":9023,"date":"2024-03-05T13:44:51","date_gmt":"2024-03-05T13:44:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.primaryengineer.com\/?p=9023"},"modified":"2024-03-05T14:51:34","modified_gmt":"2024-03-05T14:51:34","slug":"university-of-exeter-creating-the-worry-watch","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.primaryengineer.com\/university-of-exeter-creating-the-worry-watch\/","title":{"rendered":"University of Exeter creating the Worry Watch"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>University of Exeter will be creating 3 prototypes as part of a continued partnership between Exeter University and Primary Engineer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>University of Exeter are one of our University Prototyping Partners for Devon and Cornwall as part of our annual <a href=\"https:\/\/leadersaward.com\/\">engineering<\/a> competition which asks pupils aged 3-19 \u2018If you were an engineer what would you do?\u2019 and encourages pupils come up with creative solutions to real-world problems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Introduction<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>University of Exeter will turn Year 4 pupil Gracie&#8217;s Worry Watch into a reality with their prototype.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>University of Exeter have selected this design to turn into a prototype over the 2023\/2024 academic year and it will be unveiled at the Devon and Cornwall Awards Ceremony and Public Exhibition during the Summer term.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They chose this design because mental health conditions affects 1 in 8 of the population and it&#8217;s so important to have products or methods in place to help.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Beginning the Prototype<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"900\" height=\"503\" src=\"https:\/\/www.primaryengineer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/Worry-Watch-Design-Journey-900x503.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-9026\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.primaryengineer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/Worry-Watch-Design-Journey-900x503.png 900w, https:\/\/www.primaryengineer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/Worry-Watch-Design-Journey-510x285.png 510w, https:\/\/www.primaryengineer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/Worry-Watch-Design-Journey-768x429.png 768w, https:\/\/www.primaryengineer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/Worry-Watch-Design-Journey-200x112.png 200w, https:\/\/www.primaryengineer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/Worry-Watch-Design-Journey.png 942w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The prototeam have adapted the original design to become a wearable item\/teddy bear that can track and utilise common coping mechanisms for those with anxiety, depression or other mental health conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the image above, we can see just a snippet of the extensive research and planning that has gone into this prototype.
