David Jinks
David Jinks is renowned for his pioneering work in design and Technology in primary and junior prep schools. In 1991 he became the first individual winner of the Jerwood award for ‘an original and significant contribution to the theory and practice of education in the UK’. The judging panel were referring to what is now known as ‘Jinks Technology’.
During the 1980’s David worked on a number of national working parties. In 1987 he was appointed by Kenneth Baker the then Secretary of State for Education and Science to be a member of the working party that produced ‘Science in the National Curriculum’. David was chairman of the sub-group concerned with Technology 5-11.
David has been a teacher in primary classrooms, a trainer delivering training courses to teachers both in the UK and abroad. David has worked as a consultant for British Aerospace, working to promote Design Technology teaching in Primary schools across Asia, South Africa and South America. |
