Written by David Jinks and Susan Scurlock, this Structures and Mechanisms CD is based on nine QCA Design Technology Units of Work across the age range 5-11yrs. Specifically aimed at supporting primary school Design Technology curriculum, these interactive resources have been created to provide opportunities for child participation at the interactive whiteboard demonstrating their learning and understanding. Two FULL units of work are provided to schools as part of the Primary Engineer Project for more information. |

The flipcharts incorporate innovative features within starter activities, investigations, practical activities and plenaries. Video clips demonstrate and promote practical skills and techniques, animated word walls reinforce and apply English, Maths and Science. Moreover voting opportunities can afford instant feedback on each child’s understanding of the problems set. |

This CD provides a ‘hands-on’ introduction to how structures are built and how mechanisms make things work using appropriate primary school materials, tools and techniques. It encourages children to develop curiosity, to be inquisitive, to challenge the norm, to become abstract thinkers and to act creatively. |

The Structures and Mechanisms CD is based on ‘thinking, designing and doing’. It provides a range of opportunities for children to gradually improve their skills, knowledge and understanding of designing and making through interactivity with their teacher, their classmates and this powerful, new, supportive technology. |

Primary Engineer has worked with EduVision and Promethean to create a unique set of resources to compliment and support the teaching of D&T in primary classrooms. These are based on 9 QCA D&T Units of Work (1A/1D/2A/2C/3D/4B/5A/6A/6D) and include 49 complete lessons across the 9 Units of Work.
Printable children’s work books accompany each lesson with comprehensive teacher’s notes throughout.
Hands-on practical activities involving children in the design process in addition to developing their skills, knowledge and understanding of Design and Technology.Opportunities to share skills and demonstrate learning, with animated word walls reinforcing vocabulary and videos demonstrating techniques and investigations. Lesson objectives shared with the children and ‘Challenge Me To’ tasks offered as independent learning opportunities for children.
